1.) The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is automatically calculated by the tax program. Besides entering in the above information, you need do nothing to claim the EITC credit. This is also true for the child tax, and the additional child tax credit.
2.) Make sure your name(s) and social security number(s) are correctly entered. Your name must match Social Security Administration (SSA) records. If you have changed your name, use the name and social security number registered with the SSA. This also goes for your dependent children.

4.) Retain a copy of your tax return for at least three years. This year's tax return can be used next year for your electronic signature PIN.
