| Types of Tax Credits | How to Claim Personal Tax Credits |

| Earned Income Tax Credit | Tax program automatically computes your EITC based on your earned income (W-2)and number of child dependents. Nothing to enter to claim. |
| Advanced Payment | Enter in Advanced EITC Payments from W-2 box 9. This should have been entered already when you entered in all the information from your W-2. |
| Child + Dependent Care | On tax program form, enter the name and social security number of the child. Enter name, address, Employer ID Number of paid caregiver, enter amount paid to the caregiver. |
| Credit Elderly + Disabled | Automatically calculated by the tax program from personal and income information. Nothing to do to claim. |
| Child Tax Credit | Automatically calculated by the tax program from income and dependent information given previously. |
| Additional Child Tax Credit | Automatically calculated by the tax program from income and dependent information given previously. |
| Education Credits | Choose between the Hope or Lifetime Credit. Enter students name, social security number and qualified costs. |
| Adoption Tax Credit | Enter child's name, social security number, and adoption expenses (from your personal records) |
| Adoption Benefits | Should have been entered with all information on W-2 box 12 code T |
| Credit Taxes Withheld | Should have been entered from W-2 box 2, and State tax withheld W-2 boxes 15-20 |
| Credit for Paying Estimated Taxes | Enter amount of estimated taxes paid during the year |
