What To Do How To Do It
1.) Get Tax Papers Together Collect your:
+ Last year's tax return;
+ Wages ( W-2s );
+ Bank Interest (Form 1098)
2.) Login to the Tax program Click "Login" or "Start Online Filing" button on the right of this screen
3.) Setup Personal Secured Account Enter your:
+ Social Security Number
+ Password
+ E-Mail Address
4.) Enter your Personal information Enter your:
+ Name and Address
+ Social Security Number
+ Date of Birth
+ Filing Status (Single or Married)
5.) Enter your Wage information Enter EXACTLY all the W-2 information into the tax program form
6.) Enter Interest and Dividend information + For Bank interest, enter EXACTLY all Form 1099-INT information into the tax program form
+ For Dividends, enter EXACTLY all Form 1099-DIV information into the tax program form
7.) For Direct Deposit, enter Bank Account information Enter your bank's routing number and your account number.
8.) Calculate your Tax Return Click the "Calculate My Taxes" button
9.) Review your Tax Return Check over your input.
+ Spelling of your name
+ Social Security Number
10.) Submit your Tax Return Electronically sign your return
Click the "Submit My Taxes" button
11.) Receive IRS Acceptance + In 24 - 48 hours, you will be notified of your tax filing acceptance by the IRS.
+ If there is a mistake (name misspelled, wrong SSN), correct the mistake. Resubmit.
+ If you have problems, use the email help.
12.) Check Refund Direct Deposit Every Friday the IRS sends out direct deposit refunds.
Refunds should be in your account in less than 10 days from the time your return was accepted.

Reminders:

1.) The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is automatically calculated by the tax program. Besides entering in the above information, you need do nothing to claim the EITC credit.

2.) Check to see that the 1040ez is the best form for you to file. You don't get many tax breaks with the 1040ez. Check the Comprehensive Checklist to see what your not taking in tax deductions and tax credits.

3.) Make sure your name(s) and social security number(s) are correctly entered. Your name must match Social Security Administration (SSA) records. If you have changed your name, use the name and social security number registered with the SSA.

4.) Last year's tax return is usually a great resource, especially for comparing one year to another.

5.) Retain a copy of your tax return for at least three years. This year's tax return can be used next year for your electronic signature PIN.
