The IRS has a secure web site just for you. It will tell you if the IRS has processed your refund check and sent it to you. The link is provided below.

You can begin an online refund trace if you have not received your refund check within 28 days from the date you e-filed with us. You will also be able to correct or change your mailing address on this IRS website if your check was returned to the IRS as undelivered by the U.S. Postal Service.

Information you need to track your tax refund

To start the refund tracking process, you'll need to provide the following information as shown on your printed tax return:

  1. Your Social Security Number (for married filing jointly, start with the first or top one listed on the return)
  2. Your Filing Status, (Single, Married Filing Joint Return, Married Filing Separate Return, Head of Household, or Qualifying Widow(er))
  3. The Refund amount (It is important to enter the refund amount exactly as it is shown on your return in order for the IRS computer system to retrieve your information)
